Nintendo are obviously trying to catchup to Sony in terms of writing cheques their butts can’t cash.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz in London this afternoon, a spokesperson admitted, “We are region-locked,” and said the US arm of the company had made a mistake in saying otherwise.

This goes against many statements coming out of Nintendo of America. Very disappointing — this would have been one of the highlights of the Wii.

Nintendo also admitted yesterday that it had ruled out the idea of including DVD playback functionality, contradicting earlier announcements.

Isn’t it a bit late to be reneging on this one? Not that anyone probably cares, but why go around talking up your systems features, only to remove them just before launch?

Not a lie, but the below just irks me. How on Earth can you trademark ‘Virtual Console’? The term has been used in Computing for so long, it borders on the ludicrous.
