Well, this news certainly came as a surprise to me: ONE will be showing English Football this year, but only matches involving Liverpool and Arsenal. Hopefully, in time, this coverage will expand to at least include highlights of the other teams (I can dream, can’t I?).
A 3 hour programme featuring the two teams matches will [...]

Sydney’s first game of Season 6 of the A-League kicks off in under 6 hours, when the Boys in Blue meet the terror tards from the south, the Melbourne Victory. Should be a top match, first meeting between the two since the dramatic penalty goal decided Grand Final that concluded the last season.
Victory have Thompson [...]

Season 6 of the Hyundai A-League begins tonight with new boys the Melbourne Heart at home to Central Coast Mariners. The addition of the new side means that everyone now plays 30 games over the course of the season: more football for everyone, always a good thing.
Sydney’s title defense gets under way on Saturday night [...]

AEK 5-3 Sydney FC
Rangers FC 2-1 Blackburn Rovers
The Sydney Festival of Football kicked off yesterday afternoon, pitting Sydney against AEK and then Rangers against Blackburn Rovers. In the first match, Sydney tried hard but AEK outshone the local boys 5-3, with some sloppy defense being punished. Not a bad hit-out against quality opposition though; hopefully [...]

Yes, the "Shock" bit is meant to be sarcasm. Despite the best efforts of those at the front of the cove on Saturday night, it was nigh on impossible to get everyone singing without a megaphone (or two). The reason for the lack of megaphones? And for the conspicuous lack of drums from the home [...]

Former Sydney FC Captain Dwight Yorke has spoken about his one-off return to face Everton FC this Saturday night.
I’m really pleased that the club has given Yorke a proper and fitting farewell - something that was denied him when he was sold to Sunderland in season two of the A-League - and I think it [...]

Bit of a shame the boys are coming home early, but they certainly gave it a good shake, especially in the last game against Serbia. Suspensions certainly didn’t help matters and obviously the big issue was the initial performance against Germany, which caused the team to have a horrifying goal difference (which ultimately proved the [...]

New club Melbourne Heart will play its first match against A-League opposition tonight when they play Brisbane in Toowoomba. I’m interested to see (well, read) how they go as they seem to have surpassed all expectations when putting together their initial squad. I’m actually kind of staggered when I think about it - I was [...]

After all the waiting Australia’s opening match in the 2010 World Cup is only 1.5 hours away! Can’t wait, I’ve been eagerly watching (most) of the opening action from the Cup so far, and it’s been just tremendous to have world class football all over the tele. Been some memorable moments so far, including poor [...]

As previously rumored, Sydney has been confirmed as the host of a four team football tournament featuring Glasgow Rangers, Blackburn Rovers and AEK Athens (the original rumor mentioned Boca Juniors rather than AEK) over three nights from July 25th to July 31st. Each matchday will be a doubleheader, with tickets said to be starting from [...]
